Job Description

Overview

Pace Analytical Services, LLC, a leading national analytical laboratory is seeking highly motivated candidates for a Quality Manager in the Quality department at their laboratory in Huntersville, NC. 

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM with possible overtime and weekend hours

Responsibilities
  • Document Management and Distribution- responsible for overseeing the creation and revision of all quality documents (including Standard Operating Procedures). Responsible for the tracking, distribution and archiving of these documents
  • Internal Audits- responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing and conducting annual internal audits and compiling audit reports that include findings and corrective actions. Internal audits include a review of raw data (sample data and quality control data)
  • Lab Certifications- responsible for the management of the applications for and maintenance of the lab certifications (including dealing with suspensions) required to cover the scope of work performed by the lab
  • Proficiency Testing Studies- responsible for managing the Proficiency Testing program for the lab including ordering, tracking and reporting of results to the PT provider
  • Training File Maintenance- responsible for tracking and organizing the training files for all lab employees, including Demonstrations of Capability - this requires, as applicable, the administration of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • LOD/LOQ (MDL) Management- responsible for overseeing the scheduling, tracking, and evaluation of LOD/LOQ studies and/or verifications for the lab
  • External Audits- responsible for ensuring that the lab is prepared for external audits and for hosting the external auditing body when they are onsite
  • The QM is also responsible for managing the external audit report (findings and corrective actions) and for following up on the progress of the corrective actions
  • Quality Manual Revision Process- responsible for maintaining the currency of the Quality Manual
  • Metrology- responsible for overseeing the maintenance and monitoring of support equipment to meet method or contract requirements
  • The QM is responsible for ensuring that support equipment calibration documentation is maintained
  • Responding to QAPPs, Bids, and RFP Requests- responsible for compiling QA/QC information for sales and client services in response to client requests
  • LIMS Maintenance- responsible for the maintenance of quality control data and the generation of quality control limits
  • Corrective Action Monitoring- responsible for monitoring and tracking corrective actions and for ensuring that root causes and corrective actions are sufficient for the associated findings
  • Monthly Reports- responsible for compiling and distributing Monthly Quality Reports to the Corporate Quality office
  • Data Deliverables- responsible for the management of the generation and review of data packages (as applicable)
  • Supervising department staff and ensuring the quality of service, the technical competence of the staff and any productivity and technical expansion
  • Promotes cooperation and teamwork among staff
  • Follows Pace Analytical Services, LLC policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Job Requirements

  • BA or BS in chemistry or related science
  • Preferred a minimum of 8 years total experience with 3-5 years of experience in the environmental services industry
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factory analysis
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
  • The individual should be self-motivated, ambitious, hard working, and able to work independently with an eye for attention to detail
  • Must be able to multitask efficiently and work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Physical requirements include, walking, bending, and carrying
  • Must also have hand and finger dexterity, and the ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Current and applicable computer skills
